Building the Room of Your Dreams!

Whether you are building your new dream home or giving your current space a face-lift, there are many things to consider along the way. Everything including the colour of the walls and style of cabinets, to plumbing, lighting and structural challenges, all must be considered before construction can begin.

Here are a few simple things to keep in mind while planning the room of your dreams:

Budget - We recommend having a budget range in mind. This will help to establish realistic goals and ensure the project does not 'creep' out of scope.

Style - It is a good idea to consider your general style preferences before engaging with a contractor. Simple things like watching the Home and Garden channel or picking up magazines will help expose you to current trends and help to get the ideas flowing.

Accessories - There are many accessories available ranging from cabinet hardware to plumbing fixtures. We recommend visiting your local renovation store to get a sense of the options available and the costs associated. You can also browse online by following our Preferred Suppliers links on the Products and Services page or click here to see some pictures of storage ideas.

Accomodations and Timeline - Often home renovations can create a 'war zone' within your home. Consider the effects the renovation or construction may have on your day-to-day life. Try to consider the best time of year for the project to be done. Sometimes it is best to make alternate temporary living arrangements during certain phases of construction.
